Respect for children, and the development of warm relationships between the children and the adults at Possums’ Den are at the core of our program. We know that children need to feel safe and secure in order to learn, take risks and to explore.
At Possums’ Den we embrace current knowledge that children learn best through play. Innovative, supportive programs are carefully planned around each child’s strengths and interests to challenge all children and provide for individual differences.
The relaxed rhythm of our day allows children to choose activities that are meaningful to them and to use materials creatively. Adults join the children to extend the length and complexity of their play, to incorporate higher order thinking skills, and to develop physical and social skills.
We assist children to relate to and successfully interact with other children. We plan for children to develop the social confidence and love of learning that prepare them for a successful transition to school.
An individual portfolio of each child's interactions, learning and development at preschool is conscientiously maintained by our educators to create a personal record to be treasured.
